This website is operated by the Egyptian International Foundation for the Development of Laboratory Animal Science (“EG-LAS”, “we”, “us”, “our”), a foundation established under the laws of the Arab Republic of Egypt.
For the purposes of data protection law, EG-LAS is the controller of the personal data described in this policy.

2. Scope
This policy explains what personal data we collect through this website, why we collect it, who we share it with, how long we keep it, and what rights you have. It covers the website only. Data you provide to us under a signed service agreement, a training enrolment contract, or a research protocol is additionally governed by that agreement.
3. What we collect and why
3.1 Quotation requests
When you build a request through our services catalogue and submit it, we record:
- Your name, institution or company, email address and telephone number;
- Any notes you add to the request;
- The services you selected, together with the answers you give in each service-specific form;
- The date and time of submission, and subsequent status changes as your request is handled.
Please note: service-specific forms may ask for details of your intended study, such as a proposed protocol title, species, sample sizes or study design. Treat these fields as you would any pre-publication disclosure and provide only what is necessary at the quotation stage. We handle this information as confidential and use it solely to scope and price your request. See section 9.
Purpose: to prepare and issue a quotation, to contact you about it, and to keep a record of the engagement.
3.2 Training enrolment and course enquiries
Where you enquire about or register for a programme or course, we collect the identification and contact details necessary to process the enrolment, issue certificates, and maintain training records consistent with our accreditation obligations.
3.3 Newsletter subscription
If you subscribe to our newsletter, we store the name, email address and, where you provide it, the WhatsApp number you submit. We use these only to send you the updates you asked for. You may unsubscribe at any time by contacting us at info@eglas.org.eg.
3.4 Contact messages
Messages sent through our contact forms are delivered to our staff by email and may be retained so that we can respond and keep a record of the correspondence.
3.5 Website analytics
We use Google Analytics 4, a service provided by Google, to understand how visitors find and use the website so that we can improve it. Google Analytics sets cookies in your browser and collects information including the pages you view, how you arrived at the site, approximate geographic location derived from your IP address, and general device and browser characteristics.
We do not use this data to identify you personally, and we do not use it for advertising. Visits by our own staff who are signed in to the website are excluded from measurement.
3.6 Server logs
Our hosting infrastructure keeps standard access and security logs, which include IP addresses, request times and browser user-agent strings. These are used to operate the service, investigate faults and protect the site against abuse.
3.7 What we do not do
- Public commenting is disabled on this website; we do not collect comment data.
- We do not sell or rent personal data.
- We do not run advertising or remarketing on this website.
- We do not knowingly collect data from children.
4. Cookies and browser storage
| Name | Type | Purpose | Duration |
|---|---|---|---|
arfq_cart_token | Browser local storage | A random identifier that links your browser to the quotation basket you are building, so your selected services are still there if you navigate away. It contains no personal data. | Until you clear your browser storage |
_ga, _ga_* | Cookie (Google Analytics) | Distinguishes visitors and sessions for statistical reporting. | Up to 2 years, as set by Google |
| WordPress session and preference cookies | Cookie | Set only for registered users who sign in to the website, to maintain the session and remember screen preferences. | Session to 1 year |
You can block or delete cookies through your browser settings. Blocking analytics cookies does not affect your ability to use the website. Clearing browser storage will empty an unsubmitted quotation basket.
5. Lawful basis
We process personal data on the following bases:
- Performance of a contract or steps taken at your request — handling quotation requests, enrolments and the services you engage us for;
- Consent — newsletter subscription, and analytics cookies where consent is required in your jurisdiction;
- Legitimate interests — operating and securing the website, and understanding how it is used in aggregate;
- Legal obligation — where retention or disclosure is required of us by law, or by the standards of the bodies that accredit our facilities and training.
6. Who we share data with
We share personal data only where necessary, and only with:
- Our hosting provider, which stores the website and its database on our behalf;
- Google, as the provider of Google Analytics, in respect of the measurement data described in section 3.5;
- Email delivery services used to send the messages and notifications you request;
- Professional advisers, accreditation bodies or public authorities, where we are required or permitted to do so.
We do not disclose the content of your quotation requests or study details to any third party except as required to deliver the service you have asked for, or as required by law.
7. International transfers
Google Analytics processes data on infrastructure that may be located outside Egypt. Where personal data is transferred internationally, we rely on the safeguards offered by the relevant provider. If you would like details of these safeguards, contact us at info@eglas.org.eg.
8. How long we keep data
- Quotation requests and related correspondence: for the duration of the engagement and thereafter for as long as needed for our records, accounting and legal obligations.
- Training records: for the period required by our accreditation and certification obligations.
- Newsletter data: until you unsubscribe or ask us to delete it.
- Analytics data: retained by Google for the period configured in our account.
- Unsubmitted quotation baskets: cleared periodically.
9. Confidentiality of research information
We recognise that information submitted in connection with preclinical and research services may be scientifically or commercially sensitive. Such information is treated as confidential, is made available internally only to those who need it in order to respond to your request, and is not used for any purpose other than responding to and delivering that request. Where you require a formal confidentiality undertaking before disclosing study details, contact us before submitting them and we will put a non-disclosure agreement in place.
10. Security
The website is served over an encrypted connection (HTTPS). Access to the administrative interface and to stored request data is restricted to authorised personnel. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
11. Your rights
Subject to applicable law, you may ask us to:
- confirm whether we hold personal data about you, and give you a copy;
- correct data that is inaccurate or incomplete;
- delete data we no longer have a lawful reason to keep;
- restrict or object to certain processing;
- withdraw consent you have given, without affecting processing carried out before withdrawal.
To exercise any of these, write to info@eglas.org.eg. We may need to verify your identity before acting. If you are not satisfied with our response, you may complain to the competent supervisory authority in Egypt.
12. Children
This website and our services are directed at researchers, institutions and professionals. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, contact us and we will delete it.
13. Third-party links
Our website links to external organisations, including accreditation bodies and partner institutions. We are not responsible for the privacy practices of those websites, and we encourage you to read their policies.
14. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy to reflect changes in our practices or in the law. The date at the top of this page shows when it was last revised. Material changes will be highlighted on this page.
